A busy day in Dhaka.

Just here thinking about the speed of life. Rush to get to work. Rush to school. Pick the kids up, homework, visit this person, return that. Always busy. I've been unemployed for 2 weeks now and I must say, I enjoy the break. Yes, I am concerned that I may run out of money but I'm not homeless (Thanks, Dad!) so I can't say I am worried about it.

In the fast-paced world we call home, what do you do when you have to do nothing? Can you even slow yourself down to consider it?

I'm just wondering...

Soroptimist members belong to local clubs, which determine the focus of volunteer work to their communities. Club projects range from renovating domestic violence shelters and providing mammograms to low-income women, to sponsoring self-esteem workshops for teenage girls.

So I was reading an article here: County Commissioners Shuffle Funds to Pay Bill and I saw a random term that I've heard in the past, bed tax. I don't know about you but I didn't know what it meant so here you go, random definition of the day.

bed tax . A levy imposed by a local government on hotel stays within its jurisdiction. A bed tax is a way for local governments to raise taxes without incurring the wrath of voters since, by definition, the people paying the tax are out of towners who don't vote in local elections.

So, my room is a mess.

Partly because I do several things concurrently, partly because I hate to clean it up. Like now, I have a pile of college brochures on the floor. You may be thinking, "M, you’ve already graduated from college and you’ll be starting grad school this month, why do you need college brochures?"

Great question. Quick answer, I don’t. But somebody does. I’m thinking the youth program my church is trying to start may find them useful. I only have the brochures with pretty pics, majors and college overviews, the stuff that doesn’t really change, not the dated applications or financial aid stuff. Ah well, the life of a wanna be socially responsible/green girl turning woman(lady?).

By the way, welcome to my stream of consciousness. Not always clear, seemingly off topic but me nonetheless.
